Accommodations:
AboutWisdom has reserved condos at the Wyndham Kauai Beach Villas on the east end of the island, centrally located for travel in all directions. Units are within 100 yards of the ocean and surrounded by a state park... offering tranquility on the shores of the powerful Pacifi c Ocean.

Transportation:
You have the option to schedule your own travel reservations or contact us for airfare and car rental assistance. Airfare from the U.S. to Kauai is presently under $700 depending upon the airline you choose. We are happy to guide you to the lower cost airlines.

Other Transportation:
Taxis are available from the Lihue Airport to the resort for approximately $15.00. The $400 registration fee includes transportation only for the two scheduled island tours and the retreat; however, not for airport transportation. For the shopping lovers, several of the market places will offer free transportation to and from the condos. We will supply information to those interested, upon arrival. Food:
The most expensive item in Kauai is food. Everything has to be shipping in from the mainland. If you want to economize... go grocery shopping and eat-in several meals.

All condos have fully-equipped kitchens. Each retreat participant will receive a local grocery discount card, which will save you 15%, plus information on daily farm and fi sh market locations. We highly recommend that you purchase some groceries as it is always nice to have food available early in the morning and also food to pack for the tours.

We will supply a list of local restaurants featuring delicious and wholesome food at fair prices. For those meals out, there are plenty of scrumptious restaurants in Kauai to please any palette.

Hello AboutWisdom Friend! Many people ask me why I created a website dedicated to wisdom and why my life's work focuses on helping others find their personal wisdom and delivering their innate gifts to the world?

The answer begins with my childhood. Some of you know that I was a sexually abused child for many years and then married young to a minister. Subsequently, physically abused by my spouse. I was left to raise two small children, without child support or a job. Eventually, found work but it did not pay enough to support my small family and needed some assistance. The story goes on and on and you have heard "this story" many times before. Sadly to say, my story, is too many other people's story still today in a world of abundance and laws that are supposed to stop abuse.

The good news is that one day my life was transformed by compassionate wise people, who taught me about real empowerment, which I today title, "Empowered Living." I learned to live from my intuitive heart-wisdom. I became successful, happy, abundant, and fulfilled. I knew that I had to share how I transformed my life with others, thus my present work with AboutWisdom.com. I wanted to be a part of stopping abuse in all forms. The only way to do this was to teach other people what had been taught to me... how to connect to their heart's wisdom and utilize it. "Empowered Living" is what changed my life from limitation to abundance... from victim to victor. And this is what you will learn during our Spiritual Kauai Retreat 2011.

AboutWisdom has reserved condos at the Wyndham Kauai Beach Villas on the east end of the island, centrally located for travel in all directions. Units are within 100 yards of the ocean and surrounded by a state park... offering tranquility on the shores of the powerful Pacific Ocean.

Transportation:

You have the option to schedule your own travel reservations or contact us for airfare and car rental assistance. Airfare from the U.S. to Kauai is presently under $700 depending upon the airline you choose. We are happy to guide you to the lower cost airlines.

Other Transportation:

Taxis are available from the Lihue Airport to the resort for approximately $15.00. The $400 registration fee includes transportation only for the two scheduled island tours and the retreat; however, not for airport transportation. The most expensive item in Kauai is food. Everything has to be shipped in from the mainland. If you want to economize... go grocery shopping and eat-in several meals.

All condos have fully-equipped kitchens. Each retreat participant will receive a local grocery discount card, which will save you 15%, plus information on daily farm and fish market locations. We highly recommend that you purchase some groceries as it is always nice to have food available early in the morning and also food to pack for the tours.

Sadly to say, my story, is too many other people's story still today in a world of abundance and laws that are supposed to stop abuse.

A 4th of July Message from Bev

Dear Goddess and WisdomFriend,

Please join me in celebrating this "Independence Day," and perhaps differently than ever before... from that deep part of your inner heart.

Consider pausing with me to be appreciative to all who have died to allow us to live our dreams.

Two critical questions to ask: "Are you living your dream" and "Have you claimed your independence from within?"

Others can die for us to "LIVE;" however, until we claim our personal independence, little to nothing changes.

Once we expand ourselves from being dependent to independent and finally to the ultimate... interdependent... then, and only then, is the price our "families" paid more palatable and authentically honored.

I encourage you this 4th to not only enjoy the "festivities" but to take time to pause and go within. Look around. Ask questions. I encourage you to become still and honor why others died, then, commit to your dreams.

My way of showing gratitude for this 4th is through empowering more people to LIVE their dreams by claiming their inner independence so they can better understand the true message of why so many men and women are willing to die for FREEDOM.

Dear AboutWisdom Friend,

Daily I am sickened, to my stomach, as I follow the news concerning the oil issue in the Gulf of Mexico. Take a look at the picture to the left of an oil-drenched immobilized bird. Does this cause a pang in your heart too?

People all over the world should be outraged, not just Americans. The Gulf oil issues effects All Life, including humans everywhere. All will feel the backlash of this disaster.

We share this Planet with all life and whatever effects the waters... eventually effects everyone and everything.

I implore you to take responsibility for your part of this miserable situation. Yes, your part. Americans are addicted to oil, therefore, we are a part of this problem.

We must stop blaming everyone for this horrific mess, and take action. We each know that there is no power in blame. Accountability yes, blame no. And to get involved and "be heard" takes only a few minutes and it does make a difference.

It is our duty, as citizens of the world, to let government and unconscientious businesses know that it is not OK to destroy our world, and that we are not going to stand by and let this happen again.

The Earth is our Mother and the waters Her support systems. Animals are Her children as well as humans. The energy behind all Life, is One Sacred Power and we must not forget this least we all perish. All forms of life need our protection and it is our responsibility to care for them as our family. Hello AboutWisdom Friends! Many people ask me why I created a website dedicated to wisdom and why my life's work focuses on helping others find their personal wisdom?

The answer begins with my childhood. Some of you know that I was a sexually abused child for many years and then married young to a minister. Subsequently, physically abused by my spouse. I was left to raise two small children, without child support or a job. Eventually, found work but it did not pay enough to support my little family and needed some assistance. The story goes on and on and you have "this story" many times before. And sadly to say, my story, is too many other people's story still today in a world of abundance and laws that are supposed to stop abuse.

The good news is that one day my life was transformed by compassionate wise people, who taught me about real empowerment, which I today title, "Empowered Living." I learned to live from my intuitive heart-wisdom. I became successful, happy, prosperous, and fulfilled. I knew that I had to share how I transformed my life with others, thus my present work with AboutWisdom.com. I wanted to be a part of stopping abuse in all forms. The only way to do this was to teach other people what had been taught to me... how to connect to their heart's wisdom and utilize it. "Empowered Living" is what changed my life from limitation to abundance. And this is what you will learn during our Spiritual Kauai Retreat 2011.

In 2007, Standing Women launched its campaign inspired by Sharon Mehdi's story to her granddaughter about the Great Silent Grandmother Gathering. They asked that women stand together in silence for a better world at 1 pm on the second Sunday in May, which is Mothers' Day in the United States. Almost 4000 "standing locations" were listed from 81 nations, including 876 organizations.

Every year since then, Standing Women has issued its invitation to stand together. The world seems more and more at crisis, and many of us have included the moment of standing in our Mothers' Day celebrations, holding strong our intention that the crisis will bring us all together to create new systems that serve everyone.

Once again Standing Women, now partnered with Gather the Women Global Matrix and LightPages, is inviting us to stand together for a better world for the mothers, children, and families of the world. The invitation is to participate in a global moment affirming the unity of the world's women on May 9 at 1 pm.

Nashville PBS Filming a Success!

Hello Wisdom Friends!

So many of you have been emailing me asking, "How did your PBS filming go in Nashville?" I must express that it went beautifully well, thanks to each one of your prayers, help and loving wishes. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for being so generous with your energy.

I felt your kindness and support as I stood on that magnificent stage, inside the Parthenon museum, with the radiant wisdom of the 42 foot golden Goddess Athena pouring down upon me. The Goddess of Wisdom herself was my backdrop. There I was, standing at her feet, teaching about living from your innate wisdom. That entire filming felt as if I were standing at the foot
of the Great Goddess herself. (See the YouTube video and you will understand)

I wish you could have been there... well you were, at least in spirit! The energy was high and powerful. Everyone present could feel "wisdom" pulsating through her veins and body. The goddess-women of Nashville were warm, welcoming and highly supportive as I shared "Empowered Living: Embracing the Goddesses Within." Todd Grimms, our producer, from PBS39 Fort Wayne and the PBS film crew of Nashville were tops... They were professional, creative and easy to work with! Even the stage crew was one of the best I have ever worked with.

Aubrey was diagnosed with ALL in January 2009 and she will continue her treatment until March 2011. Gavin is a sweet, smart and tender-hearted little boy who was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma in April of 2009. We got the news on his brother’s 10th birthday after a biopsy on a persistently swollen lymph node. Gavin is now in remission from his cancer. Though his journey to beat this ugly monster, called “Cancer”, has been relatively short, it has not been an easy road. Gavin is our family’s hero as he has remained positive through this fight. He certainly has loved the special attention he has gotten from so many that love him--his school, his friends, his church, his extended family and his community. He loves playing all kinds of sports including: soccer, football, baseball, golf and basketball. He loves doing most anything outdoors including swimming and playing different strategically planned “make believe” good guy vs. bad guy sagas with his brother and sister. Gavin looks forward to serving as Boy of the Year for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, as well as participating in the Light the Night Walk this year. He has already raised over $150 with the help of his brother and sister by having a cookie, lemonade and pet rock stand at the end of our street. His goal is for our team to match what his older brother, Josef, raised in his fundraiser for LLS this past Spring, after finding out Gavin had cancer (over $1500). Wish us luck!!!

One of the most critical issues facing women and girls in society today is not being able to grasp self-acceptance. Ponder This: What Do You Love Most About This Time of Year?

What do you love the most about this time of the year? For me it is being able to carve out "time" to be with family! Every year, my husband, George, and I lay aside time to be with our loved ones. No business of any kind. Only "monkey business" with our four awesome grandsons and little goddess granddaughter, whose ages range from 4 to 11. We are grateful for these little energy bundles of love.

Right now we are on a trip with the "boys" and what a fun and blessed adventure we are having. Children remind us to be in our hearts, live in the moment, laugh at almost everything and have loads of fun. They know to not take life/things too seriously and to never stop enjoying the opportunity at hand.

George and I are experiencing playing hard and going from one fun event to the next. We are living in the "make-believe" world with our boys and have noticed how "alive" this makes us feel! Refreshing is an excellent word to describe being a child again and to be able to let the "ego" go. You know the one who has to get everything done and done right and right now, especially during the holidays!

Sharing stories, receiving hugs, whipping up family recipes with our goddess-daughters, playing monopoly, adding a few last minute decorations to the tree, hanging stockings up before The Claus' arrival and taking a slow drive through the country to view the holiday lights, is what we call extraordinaire!

The high-light of the trip, so far, is the privilege of having my four grandsons joining me for a quiet time of meditation. They all four sit down around me, in the sacred space, which we have created together, centered into their hearts, for a few minutes, to connect to the Source of All Life and to be grateful for their abundant lives. This is indeed my holiday gift of all gifts, the "creme da le creme", to be able to share "sacred time and space" with four little souls, each learning the value of being centered before starting their day.

My wish is that you experience much goodness and happiness this holiday season. My prayer is that you get in touch with the holiday Spirit of Love and take time to bask in this richness that seems to be more preponderant this time of the year.

Ponder This - Unwrapping Your Spiritual Gifts

Give yourself the greatest holiday gift of all this season and unwrap your spiritual gifts. Each one of us has been given many powerful gifts from the celestial realm and far too many of these gifts remain unopened within us. During this time of the year, we could imagine ourselves as lovely holiday trees, surrounded by beautifully wrapped gifts, waiting to be unopened and enjoyed.

Let us take time from the hustle and bustle of the holiday festivities and journey into our heart’s center to open the birth gifts that the Divine has placed inside each one of us. We often forget the true meaning of this quiet sacred time of the year and our minds get caught up with the gift giving, gift getting, delicacies, programs, parties, etc. We forget to go inside our hearts, be open to our potentiality, and ask for assistance from the Source to realize and utilize each gift. Instead of taking advantage of the still winter time of solstice, a turning point, we seem to get caught up in the hoop-da-la and forget that we could party and go inside.

If you want to evolve yourself and live a constant empowered life, here is a special time of the year to take advantage of the quiet energy that winter provides and begin unwrapping your spiritual gifts from nirvana. I recommend that you get started by creating a sacred space and time, within yourself and within your home to enjoy the true spirit of this season and to unwrap your presents from Spirit.

Spend time each day communicating with Spirit asking for assistance to better understand the reason for the season and how to unwrap your heavenly gifts, which you have been generously given. The most important thing you can do is ask for assistance. Ask for your innate gifts to be revealed to you. Ask for support to claim and celebrate your gifts. And in your sincerity, the answers will come, in a most thrilling way, and this will be the grandest holiday you have ever experienced.

Go ahead, decide to change the way you see and experience this holiday season.

Last Saturday, I had the privilege to speak to over 200 women/goddesses in the Kachmann Auditorium on “Empowered Living.” My focus was embracing the seven goddesses (attributes or wisdoms) within, which I am referring to in this article. These are the spiritual gifts, which we each need to unwrap this season.

Below I have written a brief paragraph about three of the seven goddess attributes for your read or review. Embrace and unwrap these three spiritual gifts (goddess attributes) for they will lead you to the other four and your life will truly become one of “Empowered Living”!

The Wisdom of Athena: Leadership (your spiritual gift)

Leadership is the gift that you were born with and this gift is governed by the hero-leader goddess who lives within you, whether you are male of female. Athena is your hero leader who has the courage and fearlessness to live your soul’s purpose, regardless of what others have to say. She unfolds within you diplomacy and is the business person who can create any variety of work his or her heart desires. One of Athena’s greatest gifts is her ability to appreciate her unique intelligence, which fuels her high self-esteem and self-worth. The Wisdom of Demeter: Heart Intelligence, Everyday Wisdom (your spiritual gift)

Heart Intelligence, or everyday wisdom, is the gift that you were born with and this gift is governed by the compassionate-heart-goddess who lives within you. Demeter connects you to your heart wisdom, which daily guides you from the inside out, to live a fulfilled life. She teaches you how to live allowing your heart to guide or be in charge of your mind. See her as your “heart-mind connection.” Demeter’s wisdom helps you to understand how to “sense” or “feel” rather than to just “think” your way through life. Ponder This - Inner Work

Our inner life is always the manifestation or revelation of our outer life. If we desire to improve the quality of our life, we must first look inward, and be willing to make the necessary changes to live an empowered life. And as we do our “inner work” we will begin to see our outer life transform.

There is no other way to add quality and richness to our lives unless we are willing to journey inside of ourselves, become vulnerable... and ask to see what it is we need to change and then release those things.

Transformation comes through the power of letting go or simply emptying out. As we release our “stuff,” we need to ask our Source to fill us with Light... so we may emerge anew and live the life we were intended to live the day we were born!

Ponder This - Being Grateful

This week, the AboutWisdom Team is taking time to be grateful and appreciative for all good that has been bestowed upon us. We thank you for all your support and kindness with our business of bringing wisdom into the world through the hearts of women and girls. This is an impossible mission without you. We hold you in our hearts and prayers during this special holiday week. Thank you!

Like many, we have felt the sting of this tough economy, as some call it, yet we are finding within our hearts thanksgiving for being alive and well enough to sit at a table of plenty, and share with our loved ones... that many do not have the opportunity to enjoy across the nation.

Many of us are troubled and have never gone through anything like this recession, or what I prefer to call the "great awakening" and "unweaving" of our world. Instead of seeking peace and understanding, from our heart's wisdom, we give away our power and peace by allowing the influence of the media, family and friends to spill fears over us; therefore, clouding our view from the truth.

Why not give it a break this Thanksgiving holiday? Be an "uplifter" to all around you! Live from your heart's wisdom and stay centered, even though those around you may began chattering about woes. We must see the good from all this "mess" we are experiencing. The truth is, the world needs to be unraveled, as it is not working for the good of all. Deep inside of our hearts... we know this to be truth! Even though this depressed time can be fearful and painful... we must take a stand and support our brothers and sisters anyway that we can, whether it be emotionally, physically, spiritually or financially.

Ask yourself, "What am I doing to support those around me?" Ponder this question over these next few days of celebrating Thanksgiving. During this time of gratitude, seek your heart's wisdom to have more clarity so that we may be sowers of new seeds in lieu of joining the "nay-sayers."

Ponder This - Empowering Ourselves by Recognizing Our Soul's Uniqueness

We must acknowledge and embrace who we are and how special we are, otherwise we will always feel envy, jealously, live in fear, and become insecure about our own unique talents and beauty. It is our responsibility to recognize and celebrate our innate gifts. It is our duty to live our life courageously without apology, as we love our individuality! To comprehend that we have been endowed with wisdom to guide our distinct lives to our ultimate fulfillment... is to be liberated from the bonds of the ego-mind. Our ego-mind says that we are powerless, born unworthy, and have no “real” purpose in life. It is often easier to believe these lies than to work on revealing our truth. Once we see our truth and accept who we are... we can easily let go of the “old self” and allow the Universe to unravel our negative ways of being. As a result, we will open up to our potentiality of living a happy life. First, we must release our old patterns in order to be renewed and restored. This unraveling process is sometimes painful; however, only for the mind, while the heart rejoices upon freeing up the heavy energy. The old energies now can be transformed and used for our new life. I want to mention, that with our new power comes responsibility and accountability, which we must also welcome.

Most of us are not willing to “pay the price” of letting go of our tattered and exhausted ways of being, even though, they do not work. We have become accustomed to living a small life, a life that is all too familiar, and repetitive. We hesitate to explore what is truly in store for us. Fear consumes and paralyzes us. As a result, we decide to stay put and justify the “hows” and “whys” of our miserable lives. Many of us have been conditioned to believe that only a few chosen people have the “talents and gifts” to live an abundant successful life; therefore, we settle for a mundane existence of mediocrity.

Today you can begin a new life! You may accept the power of your uniqueness by simply stating that you are willing to let go of things that no longer serve you and actions that are not the true you. Then, ask your heart’s center for wisdom.

I encourage you to spend time each day getting in touch with the possibilities of the “authentic powerful you” whom is waiting for your recognition and ownership. This unique person, whom is hidden deeply within your soul, has been waiting to be welcomed into your life. Try speaking to your soul. Clasp your hands over your heart’s center and ask to be shown your potentiality and your individuality. View your birth gifts from heart’s vantage point. Ultimately, you will experience a change in your life, because your soul will converse with you and you no longer can use an excuse. As you recognize your potentiality, you are transformed and you began to manifest your deepest dreams.

What will it be? Are you willing to own your uniqueness and allow it to shine through so that you live an empowered life? It only takes a few minutes to center in your heart, connect to your soul and have a conversation. Go ahead be tenacious, follow your soul’s prompting.

Ponder This: Empowering School Students with Soul Purpose

Yesterday, I participated in a networking project with a high-school class of juniors in Fort Wayne, IN. I gleaned noteworthy information from the interaction with these bright young men and women. The students are studying business and their project was to network with the business volunteers sharing their concepts.

The concepts or inventions had to address a consumer need that is not presently in the market. There was a variety of creative ideas and many of them could be developed into thriving businesses. I was proud to be a part of the workshop.

All of the students blew me away with their creativity and their ability to express their ideas. One particular young man stunned me with his idea. He had expanded his concept into a world mission, where he would design a product that would benefits others, while still making a profit. I was impressed with his vision, he deeply touched my heart!

Every student either desired to improve an already established form of technology making life easier and/or keeping people safer. Additionally, students wanted to improve sports/recreational related products.

Out of twenty-some students, only one young man had an actual "soul" intention, this also concerned me. This young man wanted to create a system of water-wells that would supply water for a particular area in Africa. His idea was great and well formulated. As he shared his vision, I felt his passion and concern for others. He expressed to me that many villages in Africa have to share five gallons of water among its inhabitants. I realized as we spoke, that he had either done his research well, had a mission-oriented family, or an inspiring mentor. Of course, this young many touched me deeply as he shared his vision and story. I wanted to reach out and hug him, but of course, with school rules, I did not. I quickly noticed that he was connected to his "soul's purpose" and was listening to his heart. He would indeed, in the near future, accomplish his dream or even something bigger. He had chosen an idea that would create a better world; it was a soulful project. I absolutely felt his determination to achieve his vision of bringing water to the people of Africa. He had what it takes... energy, heart, focus, and power behind his dream. I believe in him.

Why didn't more of these amazing juniors have their "soul's purpose" guiding their project? Who is going to teach them this essential key to real success? This should be the first step in teaching business, should it not?

Why aren't we teaching our young adults to first look into their hearts and ask their souls, "Why am I on earth, what is my purpose?" There is nothing wrong with teaching young people a purposeful life. It is the only way to change our world. We need each young person's "soul's purpose" developed in order to bring forth a better world. Children are our future, and if they are not connected to their souls when making business decisions, our world will not change. We need businesses that have integrity and that are built for the good of all... this can only come about when our children rebuild our world from their soul's intentions.

I left the classroom grateful to have experienced this opportunity. The children had taught me a great deal. I went away with many gifts in my heart, yet a deep sadness, which lingered over me most of the day. When do we start bringing awareness into our educational systems to let our children know that they each have a "soul purpose" that they should fulfill? We must teach our children that they should create "soulful" businesses and not businesses that simply make a lot of money!

We must teach our children about their "souls' purpose." This could be done without mentioning religion of dogma. Regardless of our belief systems, we each have a spirit, or soul, and frankly this is pretty easy to see. We breathe so we have a spirit/soul, end of story. What's important is that our children get on the right track early in life and find their place in our world. This task can only be achieved by teaching children that they each have a soul purpose and must bring it to life. Their individual purpose is important and they cannot live in peace and harmony without it. Our work as adults is to support children in discovering their soul's purpose, provide them with tools to develop their skills to bring this purpose forth, and to inspire them until it is complete. Pause and ask yourself, "What am I doing to help a child realize his or her soul's purposes?"

Ponder This - Empower the Children

I have a strong conviction that the “answer” for our nation’s social ills is: AWARENESS. Self-awareness leads to self-empowerment and empowerment is the only true solution for the world’s massive problems. Some may doubt this, so I offer additional information and insight. I know that once a person becomes aware and empowered, that soul cannot be manipulated. An empowered person has good intentions and they live from their hearts daily fulfilling their dreams and goals. Because empowerment comes from self-awareness, the actions of empowered souls are for the betterment of personal growth and those around them, empowerment is for the good of all and this includes all living things.

Most individuals do not live empowered lives. Most of us, regardless of our educational level, live unaware of our natural power and capabilities. If this seems to appear as over simplification for the cure of our ills, consider this. Our nation “throws” billions of dollars at social issues and problems. Ask yourself: Why do we spend over 6 times more money to house a prisoner than we do to educate a child? Why do we still have an epidemic of teen pregnancies? Why do so many of our youth belong to gangs, take drugs and drop out of school at alarming rates? Why do we still have so much domestic violence in a civilized world? Why do we create so many programs to take care of people who simply lack self-awareness?

The truth is, when people are empowered most of the social ills that we presently deal with, disappear. The main issue, globally, is that most of us have either low, inflated or a total lack of self-awareness. One must question why a nation like the United States doesn’t focus more on empowering people, instead of “dis-empowering” them. All through the ages, every wise person has said that empowering people allows them to live a fulfilled purposeful life. Simply put, “The answers are within.”

Many leaders of agencies, organizations, businesses and government have marvelous and powerful intentions for solving social issues. So why do we have little to no progress? Simply, most of these well intended groups leave out the essential ingredient of self-empowerment. It may be in their mission statement, but too often it is an after thought.

So what action do we take? Knowing we will never have enough agencies, money or time to fix our world issues, we must decide to look at the root of these issues and know that promoting awareness, from a very early age, allows us to move forward. My book “Sophia and the Seven Goddesses: A Journey of Self Acceptance” was created to be an entertaining, yet educating book for pre-teens. By demonstrating how to use the seven natural attributes, which we each have, the book encourages and inspires children (and their adult readers) to accept themselves as they are, discover their intuitive wisdom and become empowered to create a better world. This is one of my gifts to children. We each must begin offering tools of empowerment.

When an infant is reminded throughout childhood, that she is a gift to the world, born with special talents which must be developed for the sake of all, then this child has a completely different perspective on life. When a child understands that he is endowed from birth with enough wisdom to accomplish remarkable dreams and to make good choices for life, we have an empowered child. Until we join together and decide what the major issue truly is and work together toward the empowerment of others, we will continue to face the same chaos.

The best way to keep our children off the streets, off drugs, prevent teen pregnancies, from being abused, etc., is to spend our personal and social resources on empowering our children from the inside out. Despite language, religion or politics, we must all agree on “empowerment.” We must teach children to understand that within each of them is a child who is born wise, talented and inherently good. No child is born in a state of unworthiness. Once a child understands that the Source of All Life loves him/her, this child is empowered because he/she knows “they count.” Once a child is empowered, he/she empowers others, having the understanding that this is the way of life.

We must breakdown our cultural patterns of thinking and acting and begin to own the fact that we are all children of The One. There is no value in arguing over the titles and principles of man made religions about this One. We must live in love and do what we were asked to do by this One on the day we were born... “live our heavenly intention and remember who and what we are.”

So what can you do? Eliminate the “worn out” thinking (which hasn’t gotten us far) and open up to discovering even more of who and what you are and then pass it on. Make a commitment today to empower every adult and child you come in contact with. Remember this fact... we don’t need more programs, we need to restructure the present ones. What we must do is simple... own and accept who and what we are and empower others to do likewise.

Ponder This: Get the Feeling of Empowerment

To achieve our potential we must learn that the key element in life is to "feel" our way through our personal success. Our journey to empowered living is more about "feeling" than thinking; not to minimize thinking, au contraire.

When we begin to "feel out" people, things, and our state of affairs, we will have a knowing for the proper action or direction to take. Our "feelings" are an intelligence that communicates to us 24/7. Sadly to say, most of us simply ignore these emotions or "feelings" since they do not originate from our minds.

We need to consider whether people, things, and our state of affairs are in harmony with our intentions and soul purpose. We can do this by using our emotional intelligence as a barometer and say to ourselves, "How does this or that feel?" And wait for the "feeling" message. The answer comes almost instantly. NO waiting around. We feel the answer and then our "feelings" turn into a knowing. We must trust our "feeling" intelligence and know it always guides us correctly, because each one of us is born with natural wisdom and this wisdom is accessed through our "feeling body". Working with our hearts first and then ours minds, in a cohesive manner, is called using our innate wisdom.

When we pause to "feel out" our life's experiences the right answers will flow forth to us. We must to learn to trust this "feeling" process, as Sophie and Tena did in our book, "Sophia and the Seven Goddesses: a Journey of Self-Acceptance." Throughout this book, these two young girls, Sophie and Tena, begin to understand that everyone has access to natural wisdom. I believe every person deserves to know the essential message that "feeling" is always a more refined language than thinking.

Ponder This: Empowerment through Wisdom for Inspired Living

Dr. Wayne Dyer, in his powerful book, “Excuses Be Gone,” writes that with every thought, feeling, and action we have a choice. I agree. However, it is not always a simply task to make a decision. Dr. Dyer says “choosing” not “excusing” is the action to abide by, and I respect what he is saying. On a recent PBS special, I heard him say, “Hear this and here this well. All excuses are “mis-alignment.” I agree with his stunning message. Still it left me with some questions that needed answers in order for me to rid myself of “excuses.” Firstly, what is mis-alignment? Secondly, if we are mis-aligned, from what or who are we mis-aligned? Thirdly, how do we re-align? Are these similar questions and concerns you might have? I am suggesting together we ponder these questions as a “wisdom community” and discuss them on my “Bev’s Blog.” I would appreciate your thoughts and ideas about these questions. I would like to hear from you. Below is how I am considering these questions... that is, until I receive your emails, which may change my mind. Please share. Blog!

Speaking to thousands of people yearly, I have learned that most of us have concerns when it comes to making decisions. We contemplate situations that we fear might cause us to make a mistake, as a result our decision to “leap” at an opportunity might be hindered. Therefore, procrastination sets in and/or we make excuses to avoid the situation, as Dr. Dyer so well emphasized. Excuses are red flags that we are not living an empowered life and yes, that we are mis-aligned, but again I ask from what?

I believe that many of us have become disconnected, or “mis-aligned,” from our unique, natural wisdom or intuitive knowing that provides us with the confidence to make effective decisions. We are born in perfect alignment, which I prefer to call attunement - being or bringing into harmony with our souls’ purpose and our unique wisdom to accomplish this purpose. We are each born with a “user friendly” manual... one that updates itself automatically and constantly for our moment to moment needs. Being able to be in harmony with our manual moves us from striving to thriving.

Every individual is born aware of his or her purpose and remains aware until he or she is taught differently. Our “rasion de’etre,” or “reason for being,” is to enjoy life according to our soul’s purpose, and to have the opportunity to choose how we want to design our journey. We don’t have to make our choices alone. We are created with an inner connection, a navigational system, that some saints and spiritual teachers call the “inner web of life” to The Divine Source. The acknowledgment of this very fact, and the reinforcement of being told early as a child of this connection, allows us to grow up with an entirely different perspective of life. Therefore, our choices are made with confidence. We are empowered and in turn are able to empower those around us.

Mis-alignment, being out of harmony, is simply not understanding that we are born with a powerful connection to universal wisdom and only we can “dis-connect” and “re-connect” to her. Coming into attunement with our souls’ purpose allows us to recognize that we are born with wisdom; consequently, we make wise “choices” instead of “excuses”. Most of the time we do not have to do much except to “recognize and own” our birthright of wisdom, in order to live an empowering life.

In our award winning empowerment book for girls (and the girl inside every woman appreciates this book too), “Sophia and the Seven Goddesses; A Journey of Self-Acceptance,” Sophie, the main character, learns about self-love and appreciation through discovering that she is a born goddess and that she has wisdom from which to draw strength and answers. Subsequently, Sophie and her friend Tina learn to trust their good decisions. This trusting empowers them to make even more good decisions. Sophie and Tina go on an amazing journey of self-discovery, learning that they have always been connected to wisdom, and all they need to do is attune to their wisdom through their own hearts. Together the two twelve year olds learn a basic exercise, which immediately connects them to their hearts’ wisdom and gives them courage and the means to live an empowering life. Their choices are based from love and not fear. By the end of the story the two girls know that they can depend upon their own wisdom to always be present for them, anyplace, and any time. They are empowered, because they know wisdom is their friend and will always be by their side. As a result, they don’t make “excuses” they simply “choose wisely,” and teach others to do likewise. Both girls become empowered because they learned, at an early age, that within everything, wisdom lives. How different would our lives be today, had we been taught about our wisdom at an early age?

To live an empowering life we must accept Truth that we are born with wisdom, or as the Greeks call it “gnosis,” and bring ourselves into alignment, or attunement, so that we may access our unique wisdom. Then, we too can proclaim, just as Dr. Wayne Dyer says “Excuses Be Gone!”

Ponder This - Coming Apart?

Does your world feel like it is coming apart and things dying... with all of the upheaval that is going on? Relax. This is a good thing. Most of the businesses and organizations, rules and regulations, etc. that are coming apart, need to change because they are not working and never have. This breaking down is the method that the Universe uses to rid herself of what does not work and make way for the new. There is a wise approach to what is going on in our world and our personal lives today. This approach is to see the good that can spring forth from this recession... instead of holding on to what no longer works and fighting for the old way. The intelligent approach is to decide to rebuild our individual lives and our new business world using our wisdom. This can only be accomplished when we re-weave our world using our hearts. Perhaps better understanding how the Universe comes apart and re-emerges will give us more confidence that it is necessary for all things to end or die to only re-emerge for the better, thusly this recession or what I prefer to call it this re-organizing by the Universe.

Now let’s establish that there is no such thing as death - death of anything. There is only a process of breaking things down and coming apart; however, only to re-emerge for something new and hopefully a better creation. There is no “real death” as our minds have defined it. This is what frightens us when our world appears to be falling apart... the belief in death or dissolution. Nature must birth, death, and rebirth. This is her natural function. Nature gives birth to the new through re-cycling.

Our sense of loss arises from our mind-set of the naturally occurring process of dissolving and re-emerging. The human mind has learned to define “dissolution” as something awful and bad, which sets us up for monstrous fear. Additionally, the mind can not see beyond the senses and refuses to have a consultation with the heart. As a result, we suffer greatly from any emotional change or dismantling.

Take a moment to look around you. Where do you see complete dissolution? Science proves that nothing dies, rather the energy changes form. Nothing escapes the universe, nor can we destroy energy. The natural changes come about only to be re-merge again. We see this in our day to day lives; in regards, to everything we experience from people, to businesses, to things, to events - we watch “energy” unravel only to re-emerge. The re-emerging gives us each the opportunities to re-create something better.

When we can view life as it truly is: constantly unraveling and being rewoven into something new, we will view the Universe as a friendly and safe place to live. It will also empower us to have a healthy outlook on life. Life has a natural order of recycling.

Like a golden chalice being melted down only to be re-shaped into a platter; all life is constantly coming apart only to be recycled or re-emerged into something new - using energy that has always been on the planet. Anything built by our ego-mind has no depth or foundation to stand and eventually must unravel for a better design and better function... thus what is going on right now in our world.

Even creations that are designed for the good of all life eventually must dismantle for improvement, because we are never “finished.” Ultimately, Life is a process of evolution... and the sooner we accept this truth the more empowered we will be.

When we learn to live and create, from our heart’s minds, change or the unraveling will not seem so dramatic; however, this unraveling process will still go on. When we understand the laws of the universe and know that the Universe is self-organizing even without us, we will be a lot happier with our lives and can trust the process of the unraveling and the re-emerging energy for a new world or new thing/event/relationship in our lives.

We must come in to harmony with the unraveling of our personal lives and world. We are presently witnessing the unraveling process in almost every aspect of life. This is a positive thing, because there are many “things” built in our world using the ego mind. We must get in a place that allows our lives to unravel what is unnecessary and allow the process of reweaving to begin. Hopefully, in the reweaving of the new world cloth and our personal lives, we will shift into the awareness of how all life is important and connected.

Let our focus be not on a great recession; rather on a giant unraveling and a re-emerging to build a world that benefits us personally and globally. We must gather up the threads of our individual lives and reweave a world that serves all.

Ponder This - Hero Affliction

Once upon a time, yet not so long ago, I was driving to work on a sunny morning and noticed the sun shining through the dark green forest.

Suddenly an insight hit me. You know those intuitive moments we have and often pay little attention. However, this “thought” trapped me and the longer I pondered it, the clearer it came. I wondered why I do not always pay attention to these flashes of insight, since I was enjoying this moment so much. I now want to share this insight with you.

I quickly understood how often we give our power away and as a result feel powerless, through turning other people into our heroes or heroines. I realized that we start losing our power as little children by turning our parents, family, and friends into our heroes. We continue this action as we grow older and turn our teachers, professors, leaders, bosses, sport stars, and media stars into our heroes/heroines. This “bad habit” can be attributed to the conditioning or training from our upbringing. And we can change this through our prayer and mediation practices. Seeing the light within us, especially the heroine, is one of the reasons that I created the Athena Greek Goddess doll. Additionally, I created Athena doll to be a symbol or a reminder for women and girls of their heroine light. Goddess Athena has served for centuries, myriad people, as a wise and powerful heroine archetype.

Unfortunately, we often see the hero as someone other than ourselves. When do we stop turning others into our personal heroes, rather than owing the hero-light within? Are we taught to own our inner hero at an early age? I was not. Eventually we have to grow up and own our power and claim the hero/heroine within. But of course, this is dangerous stuff! Meaning then we have to also take the responsibility, which comes with the being the “hero/heroine.”

I quickly took inventory of my life during that drive to work. Unfortunately, I was guilty of turning others into my heroes and heroines, instead of learning from them and empowering myself to become my own hero/heroine. I pondered again, why do we want to give our power away by allowing others to be our heroes? Instead, when we can become the mighty hero ourselves and reap the reward that comes with such?

I am reminded of the wise and powerful author and lecturer, Marianne Williamson, in her book, “A Return to Love, “Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us.” I know this is a true statement. It is easier to allow others to be our heroes and heroines than to own the power ourselves.

Let’s chat about this a little more on a deeper spiritual level. We each are born with a soul and our soul contains our life intentions, dreams, talents, personal power, etc. Some people refer to the soul as a “higher self.” To realize our personal power, to claim the hero within, would mean that we would have to stop projecting our “higher self” or “light” onto others and live the hero life. This would include taking on the responsibility that we are more than physical beings and that we each contain the hero-light.

Our lives would dramatically change, if we would allow “others” to only be examples of what’s within us in lieu of projecting our “hero-light” onto them. We each are heroes in our own right.

What may prevent some of us from owning our hero-light is that we have an unconscious belief that heroes die young or tragically. This is not true; even though some history speaks to this. We must pause to consider that history is referring to the patriarchy hero, which has nothing to do with the higher-self hero. Consequently, we need to have a chat with our hearts making sure our minds can separate the patriarchy hero from the higher self hero.... so we can move beyond the fear of our own powerful light for whatever reason.

Here is a question to ponder: Is it the fear of the heroic death that prevents us from owning our light or is it the fear of realizing who we truly are? Is it not easier to project our precious light onto “others,” making them our heroes... rather than claiming our extraordinarily light? Owning our light means being responsible and naturally accountable.

Ponder this week on accepting your “higher self,” your light, your hero within. Look her/him straight in the eye and embrace her power and invite her to be a part of your life. The next time you decide to turn someone into a hero, ask yourself why? As Marianne Williams has stated, “It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us”. It appears easier to see the “light” in others than ourselves.

Ponder This - Officiating a Funeral. What's death?

Monday, I officiated a funeral for the father of a dear girlfriend. It was a sad, yet joyful time for each one of us. There was a bitter sweet atmosphere permeating the room where Woodrow Nine now slept. Some family members were crying, while others chuckling, as they reminisced of "the good old days." The sacred space was filled with loved ones whom had come to pay their respects for this noble life of 93 years.

A sacred energy began to permeate every soul in the room. I knew that Love had come to comfort us. Her presence was revealed as each face began to soften. Every person, on some level, knew that Love stood near-by, whether he or she had defined it as such or not. There was this compassionate feeling that swept through us and bathed our hearts with equanimity.

Love had come to support us just like I knew she would. "My faith sustains me, I thought." I did my best not to become hypnotized, as I basked in the assuring Love. I had to finish the service; therefore, I needed to remain conscious. The power of Love was so intoxicating, that for a moment, I felt compelled to shout out loudly a big "hallelujah." Quickly I came to my senses and retreated. I paused and basked in this Love and was delighted to know that Love never let's us down... we must only be open to her.

I started the service with speaking on the Mystery, which we call death. I could not speak about death, unless I spoke of its equal opposite the Mystery of life - since they are truly one and the same. I explained that life and death occurs on a continuum and they depend upon each other for existence. This is a powerful paradox that boggles our ego-minds but not wise-hearts.

I reminded the group that we are not bodies that have souls, rather souls that have bodies. The soul belongs to the unseen or the eternal realm. Life itself and love are unseen realities, which we can only be seen as they are expressed. The expression may change, but the realities are eternal.

I continued my message saying... as a soul, we live in the body for a while loving and giving, serving, and forgiving. Just as the soul animates the body, so it is that Divine Love animates the soul. To lay down the body is like removing a worn-out garment, and the soul rises free and unlimited into the Light of the Sacred into the spiritual realm.

I concluded the service with an intriguing poem, "There is No Death," which I will leave below for you. My wish is that you will ponder this poem and allow the truth of the life-death paradox be revealed to you in a deeper way.

There is No Death

I am standing on the seashore. A ship at my side spreads her white sails to the morning breeze and starts for the blue ocean. She is an object of beauty and strength, and I stand and watch her until at length she is a speck of white cloud, just where the sea and sky come to mingle with each other.

Then someone at my side says, "There! She's gone!" Gone where? Gone from my sight, that is all. She is just as large in mast and hull and spar as she was when she left my side, and she is just as able to bear her load of living weight to her destined harbor.

Her diminished size is in me, not in her. And just at the moment when someone at my side says, "There! She's gone!" there are other eyes watching her coming, and other voices to take up the glad shout, "Here she comes!"

And that is dying.

Ponder This - What's Wisdom?

When I facilitate workshops on the subject of “The Seven Wisdoms of Women;” immediately most attendees believe I am referring to a traditional or conventional wisdom. They believe I am alluding to some kind of ancient knowledge, which has been written down on stone tablets or papyrus scrolls. Others assume that wisdom comes from spiritual teachers who are anointed by God or “enlightened beings.” These individuals channel sacred information from the “other world.”

As we got further into my presentation, the group began to understand that I wasn’t referring to an esoteric wisdom, one in which is only given “to a chosen few.” Instead something rather grand and extraordinary happens; the wisdom flows from the Source of All into every human heart.

The ancient Greeks called this extraordinary wisdom, Sophia, and defined it as “feminine understanding.” The ancient Greeks, as well as aborigines of every early culture, considered what modern society calls wisdom - simply good manners, common sense, values, and morals. They did not consider the above items as authentic wisdom. Instead, wisdom came from wise choices on how to live.

The Ancient Greeks and their predecessors defined the word “Sophia” to mean an intuitive knowing. Through succeeding years, the term became known as “gnosis” or complete understanding. In the Sanskrit language, the term is “gnana” for this intelligence. Feminine wisdom is what flows directly from the Source of All through the heart of humankind for guidance.

Authentic wisdom, Sophia, is intuitive intelligence, beyond the reasoning mind, which flows to us and through us, in the moment we need it. It is always fresh, easy to understand, and useful.
Providing we use the knowledge, we will receive more of it to guide our lives. The old adage of “practice makes perfect” applies here.

It is easy to differentiate “feminine wisdom” from “traditional wisdom.” Feminine wisdom is information that benefits all life; whereas, traditional wisdom is information that is good for only a chosen few. Feminine wisdom is fluid, yielding, spontaneous, and Omni-present. We only need to daily step out of our whirlwind lives, calm ourselves through meditation, listen, and feel for our wisdom.

BTY: Feminine Wisdom does not necessarily belong to women; all persons have access to feminine wisdom through their hearts. Wisdom’s quintessence is feminine! (Quintessence: the most perfect embodiment of something)

Ponder This - Why do we have contrast in life?

Life would not exist without variety and contrast. The very thing most of us dislike about our lives is what makes life work. How tediously boring to think that we would have no choices, no preferences, and no favorites! To think that everything could have been either pre-selected or one of a kind is appallingly drab. What would there be to live for? Can you imagine only one color for everything? One cookie recipe? One type of automobile or all peoples looking the same? One type of woman or man? Imagine the same life experience for everyone. No choices whatsoever. Ponder That!

It is remarkable that our Universe is so intelligent and wise and offers multiplicity to us to enjoy or to even dislike. Contrast, is the spice of life and without “it” life would be hideously uninteresting. Yet we “piss and moan” about this gift a lot.

Through tons of research, I am convinced that variety and contrast is absolutely necessary for humans to appreciate their lives. Thanks to these gifts we are innovative creators. Some people say they could do without the contrast in their lives, but in reality they could not. Contrast is their stimulus.

Ponder this... how could we make decisions without the opportunity of variety? Variety brings about contrast to support our decision making. Without the availability that variety provides there would be no decision-making. Consequently, there would be nothing to focus our energy on or no reason to have an intention. As a result without intention we could not create. Without the so-called “bad stuff,” (which I prefer to call contrast of life) how could we decide what we want? The answer... we could not!

If we pause and take a peek at our lives, we can immediately see how contrast has helped us make our decisions. We see the good in variety. We see the choices we have through this precious gift of multiplicity. A quick review of our lives sheds light on the importance of having the “privilege” to choose. Being able to dip from a universal “pot of soup” allows us to have a beautiful life of our own choosing.

Contrast, is a gift of great love from Spirit. We could have been created as robots and been given commands, performing day in and day out in a routine fashion, having no free will. Now that’s monotonous! We have it all, yet we are constantly complaining and condemning the contrast in our lives. Instead, we need to celebrate our freedom of choice and learn to appreciate contrast.

Life is about choosing not judging and complaining. Life is about making choices from the opportunities and experiences that are presented to us. Life is about making decisions from the “Universal Pot of Soup” and not telling the Head Chef that you don’t like the way it was prepared. You know where that attitude will get you, don’t ya?! CHOOSE and then say, thank you...that was delicious. Each time making healthier choices as “contrast” teaches you. Our privilege and opportunity is to make a decision while holding no judgment about the other. This is where we seem to have major difficulties and need to develop the skill of non-judgment.

Contrast will serve you: We each know the energy of being “fed up” with something in our lives. How many times have we said, “I can’t stand it any more?” At that time, we can make a decision
of what new thing/event/relationship we want to attract into our lives. Therefore, contrast serves a great purpose to help us get clear about what it is we desire at any point in time. Often we don’t even know what we want... until we get enough of what we don’t want, and then a miracle happens... clarity! We say to our self, “I sure don’t want any more of this stuff!” We have made a decision and magic happens, well, if not magic, at least some change has come from a new choice. Without contrast we would remain in a lifeless state, forever and ever. So getting fed up with something is a good thing, not a bad thing. Through the power of contrast we quickly learn what we want and don’t want. Ultimately, we will go after more of what we do want. This is the way life works.

Without contrast and variety playing out in our life we would be stuck with the same old mundane things - old relationships, issues,
people, food, etc. A friend of mine, Esther Hicks makes an amusing statement about the need for contrast, “If every person looked alike and acted alike how you would find yourself.”

Be grateful and appreciative for contrast. Think how truly delightful choice is... how exhilarating to be able to look at something in life and say, “I’ll have that please,” or “No thank you Universe,” and continue holding your focus until your intention arrives.

You can create the life of your dreams through the gift of variety and contrast!

Ponder This - Want to Make Sense of your Life Stories?

Last week I wrote about the “power of our stories” and once again you responded favorably. Thank you. Today, I would like to share with you an exercise, which I created to utilize my stories. This exercise empowered and permitted me to obtain a clearer understanding of my life’s journey. The exercise made sense out of my experiences. I gained more insight from this exercise and an added benefit of visually seeing my learning curves and growth spurts from this perspective. I suggest this exercise as an annual ritual.

I call the exercise “Story Mapping.” I empowered myself by titling my major life stories and creating a time line, or map, with them. I chronologically arranged my major stories on a piece of green construction paper - I am an artist at heart, so color is important to me. I recommend not using a computer program; instead be more “right-brained” and find some crayons and construction paper and allow your inner child to play. You can keep this project simple or you can complicate it. Since this may be your first story mapping project, I suggest you write as many experiences as you can think of, do not pay attention to which ones came first. Let your mind wonder. Some examples to think about are your first car; first job; loss of a job, death, marriage, or your younger days in high school, etc.

I started out with my childhood stories to date. I coordinated my stories to the years, as this was much easier to recall. I used simple words to label each story or a symbol. Try using different symbols for each year or story and connect them with a squiggly line... it’s like connecting the dots. If you have more than one significant story in the same year, be creative and connect them in some way. For this exercise, it is best not to use straight lines, if you can mute the left side of your brain. Make your map creative and not linear. Use your imagination and have fun.

Follow your intuition when choosing your symbols which best express the particular year or story. To save time you may use circles, hearts, triangles, or squares. If you need ideas for symbols, go online and search for them, you will find a myriad to choose from.

Once my story-map was completed, I studied each one and noted the year to better understand what I gained from that time. I could see my wisdom growing each year, but strangely enough, I had never given myself permission to recognize it or own it. I was shocked by what my intuition and my creative mapping had brought to me. I noticed with each year a nudging from Spirit, toward my purpose or destiny. I am sure you will gain a similar insight and agree this is a powerful process to engage.

I believe that each and every experience we have points us toward our souls’ dream of whom and what we are and can become. By creating my personal story map, I not only made sense out of my life, but it immensely encouraged me to understand that each event in my life is crucial for my personal, professional, and spiritual growth. More importantly from this simple, yet powerful exercise, I began to notice the wisdom I had gained from each experience and why I needed to share them - to empower others.

Use your creative imagination, create a map with your essential life experiences and see what you discover; there is a wise person within you able to share his or her wisdom to help create a better world. Go for it!
